End of Season

It was a tough way to end the season but what a wonderful group of young men that represented our school and community this season.  Thanks to our seniors and their efforts over the past 4 years for Box Elder Football.  We wish them the best and are grateful for the legacy that they leave.  The juniors now have to prepare themselves to carry the torch.  Don't waste one day in your off season preparation.  It goes by fast, just ask the seniors.

Stay tuned to this blog for details of the end of season banquet and post season awards as they come out.

Thanks to the wonderful people who helped make this another successful football season.

Pocatello and Fall Break

We play Pocatello at home on Thursday with the Varsity.  On Wednesday the Freshmen play at 4pm and JV, which includes the sophomores, play at 6pm.  The games are at Irving Jr. High.

There is no school on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday because of Fall Break.  The team meal will be breakfast instead of dinner this week.

CoachG: What a fun week of football.  No school and just football, it is like being a professional football player.  Great job on the road in Pocatello of representing not only Box Elder but the state of Utah against one of Idaho's best.  Thursday was a physical game that was won by making the fewest mistakes and playing with great energy and competing.  The "FISTs" were flying.

Logan

We play Logan this week at Logan on Friday.  The JV plays at home at 3:30 on Thursday and the Sophs play at Logan at 3:30 on Thursday.  The Freshmen play on Wednesday at 4pm at Logan.

CoachG:  Nice job of competing and never giving up or giving in.  The game plan was to make them earn everything and put pressure on them by shortening the game and controlling the ball.  While there were mistakes made, it was a great job of not backing down and fighting through adversity.  The "hive" was loud and disruptive.

Bonneville and Homecoming

Varsity plays Bonneville on Friday at 7pm for the 2011 Homecoming Game. On Thursday the Sophs play at home at 3:30pm and JV plays at Bonneville at 3:30pm.

The team dinner will be Thursday at 7pm following the practice. It is also the second half of senior faculty appreciation this week. Seniors honor the great teachers and influences they have had here at Box Elder.

CoachG: It was great to win a game at the end.  It showed great character to overcome the many obstacles and adversity throughout the week and game.  Keep working the process of being a champion. FIST was evident again, especially spirited teamwork.

Mt. Crest in Cancer Awareness Game

We play Mountain Crest this week. Freshmen on Wed at home, JV at Mt Crest on Thursdayat 3:30 and Sophs at home on Thursday at 3:30. Varsity will play a home game again, finally. It is a cancer awareness game sponsored locally. The game is Friday night at 7pm.

Thursday at 7pm will be the team dinner in the commons area at the high school. Thanks again to the parents who make it possible.

CoachG: It was a great Region 5 football game. In a game that close the reasons for the loss can be traced back to many plays. Instead of focusing on the negative things that caused the loss, Winners focus on the great things that were accomplished and get to work making those things even better. When the fist is raised that means that something great is happening. Keep "firing the fist".

Sky View Bobcats

This week we play the Sky View Bobcats.
-Freshmen here on Wednesday at 4:00
-Soph at Sky View at 3:30 on Thursday
-JV here at 3:30 on Thursday
-Varsity at Sky View on Friday at 7pm

CoachG: In close games it becomes the little things that make the biggest difference. It comes down to 3-5 plays that win or lose the game. It is imperative that we treat every play like the one that makes the difference.

Roy and Region 5

This week we play Roy at Roy with the varsity on Friday at 7pm. This is our first Region game. The JV plays at home at 3:30 on Thursday and the Sophs play at Roy at 3:30 on Thursday. The freshmen play Logan on Wed at 3:30 here.

There is no school for students on Wednesday and we will have practice at 2:30.

CoachG: What great energy and effort that was displayed on Friday at Roy. There was definitely "white heat intensity" on display individually and as a team. Now, it is important to be able to control that and we didn't on offense. Continue working hard to improve. I did see some great teammates trying to pick each other up after making mistakes, that is a great example of FIST.
