School Starts

We are opening a new school this school year and the first day was like Christmas. We got a new weight room and new equipment. The football team unloaded it off the truck and opened it and put it together. Here are some pictures of putting the weight room together.

Putting the racks and benches together took a little teamwork.

First we had to haul it in and unpack it. Then we started putting it together.

It was our first live action and it gave us an opportunity to see what we can do. I am very excited about the effort and desire of each player. We need to improve and master our assignments. -We will carpool from BEHS, meet at 5:20 at BEHS
-We will be back around 8pm

Coach G: Very good job. We improved and looked sharp, especially the jv. It is important to keep improving and working. I noticed that we got a little tired and our execution lagged, that is normal for this time of year but we need to remember that in the season and beat people because we are in better condition.

June 3, 2009

May 25, 2009

7on7 Practices

Tuesday May 26 3:00 - 4:10
Thursday May 28 3:00 - 4:10
Tuesday June 2 3:00 - 4:10

Wednesday June 3 will be a practice/competition with Davis High. We will start at 4pm at the football field.

Coach G: Today vs. Davis was our first opportunity to compete (our first step together). Defensively, we played man and I saw guys competing. I was impressed with our ability to keep working to improve. We need to work on our communication, which will allow us to work together and become a force. Offensively, we are learning the plays and executed them well. We moved the ball. We need to become consistent by understanding the basic concept of the play, whether it is a 3 step, 5 step or sprint out. Overall, I expect more enthusiasm/excitement as a team. We have a lot of work to do but I am excited about our team!

Saturday June 6 will be a tournament at Weber County Fairgrounds beginning at 9 am. It will go most of the day.

Box Elder Football Expectations

It was great to meet most of the football players and introduce myself last week at the team meeting. I am very excited to be the football coach at Box Elder!

Expectations of a Box Elder Football Player
- Be a great person!
- Be respectful!
- Be a hard worker!
- Be a winner!

Because it is a long time before the actual football season starts, this gives me an opportunity to find out who wants to be the best. I will be checking grades and citizenship and attendance to find out which players are willing to do what it takes now to be successful in the fall. Work hard and do what is right now to prove to me, the coaches, and your teammates that you can be trusted when the game is on the line.

If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to email me at rgunter@dsdmail.net
